Check that the door jamb on the hinge side is plumb and shim as necessary. Place hinge at the center of that area aligned with the right side of the garage. Place your hinges in the correct location. One about 2 inches above the top hinge and the other about 2 inches from the center hinge.

Then you can take a hammer and tap the hinge bolt releasing the hinge. Screw cable brackets to the door to secure the weather stripping. Once you re happy with the placement use a pencil to mark where the holes are to attach the hinge. Once tapped in tighten the nut.

It should be placed several inches in from the edge. To install the new garage door hinges tap the hinge bolts through the bolt holes preferably from the outside. Stand the bottom door panel on the floor in the garage doorway. One hinge is located 7 inches from the top of the door frame and the other hinge is located 11 inches from the bottom of the door frame.

Temporarily screw the hinge jamb in place by driving two 8 3 inch drywall screws through it. Place the second panel on top of the first one. Most doors require a minimum of two hinges. Align a hinge in 1 of the corners and in the center of the panel then screw them in place.
